Accessing Mental Health Care

Finding Intensive Outpatient Programs

Higher levels of care for mental health challenges include a range of treatment programs and services that offer a greater intensity, frequency of contact, and/or duration compared to traditional outpatient therapy & psychiatric services. Higher levels of care for mental health challenges include (but aren’t limited to) inpatient hospitalization, residential programs, partial hospitalization programs, and intensive outpatient programs.

Consult with your mental health providers

If you have mental health providers, they are often the most helpful resources for finding and vetting programs that suit your specific mental health needs.

Recovery.com: an extensive directory of treatment programs,  filterable by location, therapeutic approach, level of care, and more.

Virtual IOPs

If an IOP you’re considering is located too far away, ask if there is a virtual option available. Some IOPs can accommodate participants from other states.
